Mattia Falaschi

Born as an herpetologist, I am now more broadly interested in biodiversity conservation and human-mediated biodiversity changes (still, with special attention to crawling beasts!). My research is focused on the identification of the factors determining distribution and temporal trends of animal populations, including the effects of climate change, land use change, and alien species. My main research topics include: application of Bayesian models to study occurrence and abundance dynamics of animal populations; Distribution, diffusion, and impacts of invasive alien species; Biogeography: ecological and historical factors shaping the changes in community composition across space, particularly at the large scale; Agrobiodiversity: effects of human activities and management practices on biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.
