Raoul Manenti

My studies focus on amphibians, freshwater crayfish and invertebrates inhabiting groundwater and springs. My current main goal is to understand factor favouring ecotones’ exploitation, particularly the role of landscape of fear, predator-prey interactions and detection of trophic resources. A second main goal is to disentangle the relative role of phenotypic plasticity and local adaptations in allowing the exploitation of adjacent environments. Moreover, I carry on both long-term studies on the biology conservation of endangered species like the native freshwater crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes and reactive studies linked to global and local conservation emergency and emerging patterns. Particular attention in my research activity is given to the development effective conservation actions of neglected animals.
