post-doc
My primary interests include amphibian conservation, drivers of diversity in inland waters, underground waters and springs, and the effects of invasive species, climate change and other anthropogenic stressors on aquatic biodiversity. I place particular emphasis on studying the spread of the invasive red swamp crayfish in Italy and its effects on freshwater communities. Moreover, my work includes biodiversity assessments using environmental DNA (eDNA) analyses in various environments, ranging from remote regions to anthropized areas. I also focus on the application of eDNA for the early detection of invasive species, including mosquitoes, and for studying soil communities.
