Stéphanie Sherpa

Researcher

The success of species colonization is puzzling and is a topic I have sought to understand during my career as a researcher in evolutionary biology. My research focuses on the mechanistic understanding of population establishment success in newly colonized environments, by integrating modern genomics approaches, common-garden experiments along with phenotyping, and ecological niche modelling. My interest began during my PhD, where I investigated the colonisation dynamics of a highly invasive species, and the role of pre-adaptation in promoting global-scale invasions. The use of genomics tools has become a thread for developing new research activities in our laboratory. My current research topics include island-colonization dynamics and the adaptation genomics to specific environments, such as urban habitats, subterranean environments and glacial landscapes.
